Indicator Strategies
Master technical indicators from RSI to MACD with proven strategies for trend following, momentum trading, and multi-indicator confirmation
Why Indicators Work (and Don't)
Technical indicators are mathematical calculations based on price and volume. They don't predict the future—they help you understand current market conditions and identify high-probability trading opportunities. The key is using the RIGHT indicators for YOUR trading style and understanding their limitations.
Lagging vs Leading
Moving averages lag price (confirm trends after they start). Oscillators like RSI lead price (warn of momentum shifts before trend changes). Use both types together.
Trending vs Ranging
MACD and moving averages excel in trending markets but give false signals in ranges. RSI and Stochastic work great in ranges but whipsaw in strong trends. Choose wisely.
Confirmation is Key
Never trade a single indicator signal. Wait for price action confirmation (candle patterns), multiple indicator confluence, or support/resistance level alignment.
Moving Average Crossovers
Golden cross and death cross strategies. Trading 50/200 EMA crosses, optimal timeframes, and trend confirmation techniques.
RSI Divergence Trading
Advanced RSI strategies beyond overbought/oversold. Bullish/bearish divergences, hidden divergences, and trend reversal timing.
MACD Histogram Strategy
Momentum trading with MACD histogram. Histogram bar analysis, zero-line crosses, and signal line crossover confirmation.
Bollinger Band Squeeze
Trading volatility breakouts from low volatility squeezes. Bandwidth analysis, breakout direction confirmation, false breakout filtering.
Stochastic Oscillator
Overbought/oversold momentum trading. %K/%D crossovers, slow stochastic filtering, and divergence confirmation strategies.
ATR Position Sizing
Using Average True Range for dynamic stop-losses and position sizing. Volatility-adjusted risk management strategies.
Fibonacci Extension Targets
Using Fibonacci 1.272, 1.618 extensions for profit targets. Trend trading with objective exit levels and retracement entry points.
Pivot Points Strategy
Daily, weekly, monthly pivot point trading. Support/resistance levels, central pivot reversals, and breakout strategies.
Ichimoku Cloud Trading
Complete Ichimoku system - cloud breakouts, Tenkan/Kijun crosses, future cloud analysis, and multi-signal confirmation.
Parabolic SAR Trend Following
Stop and Reverse indicator for riding trends. Trailing stop strategy, trend continuation signals, and exit timing.
ADX Trend Strength Filter
Average Directional Index for trend vs range identification. Combining ADX with other indicators for high-probability trades.
CCI Momentum Strategy
Commodity Channel Index for overbought/oversold extremes. Trend-following with CCI above +100 and below -100 strategies.
Multiple Indicator Confirmation
Combining 2-3 indicators for high-probability setups. Avoiding indicator overload, confluence zones, and systematic confirmation rules.
Indicator Mastery Learning Path
Start with One Moving Average
Master a single 20 or 50 EMA first. Learn to identify trends, use it as dynamic support/resistance, and recognize when price respects vs breaks through it.
Add One Oscillator
Choose RSI or Stochastic. Learn overbought/oversold levels, divergences, and how to combine with your moving average for entry timing. Don't add more yet.
Learn ATR for Risk Management
ATR isn't for entries—it's for dynamic stop-losses and position sizing based on current volatility. This alone will improve your risk management significantly.
Study Multi-Indicator Confirmation
Only after mastering individual indicators, learn to combine 2-3 indicators for confluence. Example: 50 EMA + RSI divergence + support level = high-probability trade.
Test Advanced Systems (Optional)
Explore Ichimoku or multiple MACD timeframes if interested. But remember: simple systems with proper execution beat complex systems with poor discipline.
